Studying Scriptures Sharing time

Sharing time- Studying the scriptures
Sing “If you’re happy and you know it” Ask for an action word to sing in place of clapping your hands-
Last week we learned that there are different books of scripture. The Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. (Show books) The Lord uses action words(just like we sang actions words in the song, “If you’re happy and you know it”) to describe how we should study the scriptures. I have some of these words hidden around the room with objects to help us understand what we should do with these special books. Can you help me go on a treasure hunt to find them? (show Treasure map with where the objects are)FEAST wordstrip with a serving platter of food (see 2 Nephi 32:3)
Have you ever been really hungry? So have I!  When we are hungry, we want to eat, or feast on foods that our parents provide for us. Do we just take a nibble when we are starving or do we eat lots?
Nephi taught us in 2 Nephi 32:3 that we should "feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do". Feast upon the words of Christ, these(show scriptures) are the words of Christ, does that mean we need to eat the scriptures?(show picture of baby eating scriptures)No!
Sometimes your hearts might be "hungry". You might be feeling sad or lonely or hurt. You might have a question that you need answered. Our heavenly Father has given us something to feast on that can fill our hungry souls. That something is the scriptures.
When we read the scriptures, we can find answers to our questions, problems, and worries. We can feel Heavenly Father's love when we study the words of Jesus Christ. Our hearts won't be hungry any more.

SEARCH DILIGENTLY wordstrip with object of Magnifyier This is a magnifying glass. You use it to look at writing or other things close up and see it better. We are taught to read the scriptures, but we learn that also need to look at the scriptures carefully and search them. This is pretty easy to read(READ THE SCRIPTURES), but what about this? You have to look really hard to see it. Mosiah 1:7 “ I would that ye should remember to search them diligently, that ye may profit thereby;” If we study them every day, underline them, mark certain scriptures, make notes(search them like we would look for something really small with this magnifying glass) then we will learn and grow and find answers to the problems we have each day.

HOLD FAST wordstrip with object of blindfold (see 1 Nephi 15:24)- And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction. Open scriptures and read
Have a child lead another child blindfolded back to the front of the room. Just like you needed to hold fast to that person leading you back, you also need to hold tightly to the scriptures and read them. If you do this, the adversary or Satan will not be able to tempt you to do bad things. Holding fast to the scriptures is as important as holding a parent’s hand in a crowded store to not get lost.

TREASURE UP wordstrip with Treasure box object  (see D & C 84:85) A treasure is something that is precious, valuable, worth so much to you that if you lost it you would be very sad. These scriptures are a treasure and they are so special that they are worth more than any amount of gold, money, all the jewels on this earth. We must treat the scriptures like they were more important than a favorite blanket, doll, etc. We must never play rough with the pages or rip them, throw them on the ground because they are Heavenly Father’s words of how to return back to Him.

CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING
This is Fred and we have some time to let him finally feast! We're helping his body grow by giving it food and we're also helping his spirit grow as we review some of the gospel truths from the lesson. Some will get to pick a food that has a question that we have talked about earlier and be able to feed Fred.

QUESTIONS-
What is one of the action words that will help us study the scriptures?
What does it mean to feast upon the words of Christ?
How can we treasure up the scriptures? How should we treat the scriptures?
How do you feel after reading the scriptures?
How can we search the scriptures?
Name a book of scripture we can read or a standard work, or a favorite scripture story?
Sing “The Books in the Book of Mormon” p. 119
Who doesn’t want us to read the scriptures?
